The Global Environment & Society Academy (GESA) is part of the university’s commitment to adopt multi-disciplinary responses to challenging global issues. For postgraduate students interested in issues relating to the environment and society, GESA facilitates a Masters and PhD network. The Academy organises events that can help you with developing your research ideas, presentations skills, networking, employability skills, internships or work -based projects, particularly those with an interdisciplinary focus. You can find more information about GESA on a previous blogpost here.
GESA also has an online platform on which all postgraduates students are welcome to share news-items, videos, or websites relating to courses or that you simply find interesting. Students can also write blogposts and enter into discussion with other GESA members. GESA hopes that the platform (which is named Podio) will serve to strengthen students’ networks, to keep them up to date with the latest developments in their fields, and to enhance their (interdisciplinary) knowledge on pressing environmental issues.
There are already posts about a free online GIS course, dissertation resources, a European geography conference in Turkey that is welcoming proposals from postgraduate students, and a podcast, videos and news items about a variety of topics relating to environmental issues in our society.
